Lozenge Shaped Card by Sheila Weaver
This card in its basic shape has a lozenge shaped front, but can be adapted as will be seen from my final card. The teddy bear was originally a Valentine card but by removing the red heart and covering the inscription with a few strategically placed flowers, it makes the perfect baby card.
Materials A square when folded card (size is up to you) I used a square card which measured 15cms x 15cms when closed. Glue or strong DST The Cardmaker’s Year CD |
Step One
Open out the card and divide each half of the card into two equal sections by marking the edges with a pencil or pricking tool, points A to A and points B to B. - Your card will now be divided into four equal sections. Also mark halfway down the leading edge (front) of the card, point C.
Step Two
Using an embossing tool score from points A to A. Score diagonally from points A to B (twice). Score diagonally from points B to C (twice).
Cut away the two small triangles B to C one of which is shown in red.
Step Three
Make a valley fold on the score line A to A. This forms the base for the card to stand on.
Make mountain folds on the score lines A to B and push the sides inwards as shown.
Step Five
The card is made and ready for decoration.
I used the Teddy Bear image from The Cardmaker’s Year CD (February images). You will need two copies of the largest bear. I imported the teddy into Word and enlarged it slightly. Stick the teddy bear to the front of the lozenge and cut away the excess card. I tied some blue ribbon round the neck after trimming the image and substituted a white satin heart for the red Valentine heart. I also covered the Valentine greeting with decoupaged flowers, and decoupaged round the satin heart.
To finish, cover the base of the card with one of the backing papers.
In case you were worried, this card does fold flat for posting
